Lancaster’s downtown has held onto its architecture and added restaurants, a brewery and the Decorative Arts Center. The Fairfield County Fair, the oldest continuous county fair in Ohio, runs every October, and the Hocking Hills are a short drive south.

What is Lancaster's housing market like?

Diverse. The historic district has large brick homes from the 1800s, the east and south sides have mid-century neighborhoods, and the north side toward US 33 has newer subdivisions. Prices are well below Pickerington and Canal Winchester.

Is Lancaster a reasonable commute to Columbus?

US 33 is a four-lane highway most of the way, so downtown Columbus is around 40 minutes and the east side less. Many residents also work locally at the hospital, the glass industry and the county offices.
